They even offered us a free late checkout, and breakfast was very nice. Our room was incredible, and the location was right in the middle of the souks. The staff were extremely friendly, and someone came to pick up our luggage and walk us to the hotel.

I came back on my next visit to Marrakech, which says a lot. The riad is an elegant, well-cared-for sanctuary, peaceful, airy, and cool, just steps from the lively souk. It was built anew just over 10 years ago. The rooms, furnishings, baths, and whole place are delightful, and the hosts look after their guests so well. Airport pickup went smoothly, and they also helped me get off to museums, reservations, and rendezvous gates. Breakfast was lovely, with local breads and cheeses, freshly cut fruit, real yogurt, and a nice nus nus coffee when I asked. There was an omelette available too, though I didn’t need one. I really enjoyed the place and the hosts.

The service here was impeccable. Noureddine and his team made us feel welcome from the start. Since the hotel is in the medina, they met us in the main square, carried our bags, and walked us in. When we wanted to explore, Noureddine took us out himself so we wouldn’t get lost. Our room was large, clean, comfortable, and very quiet. Dinner was traditional, generous, and delicious, and breakfast had plenty to choose from with efficient service. The hotel is simple, with no TV or elevator, and it doesn’t serve alcoholic drinks, but it was still one of the best places we stayed during our travels in Morocco.

The management were lovely and very helpful. Rooms were spacious, spotless, and nicely made up twice a day, with good air conditioning. The riad has a more modern look and sits in the middle of the Medina. Breakfast was generous and tasty, if a little plain, though the pastries were spot on. They say it starts at 7:30, but in practice it was closer to 8:10-8:15. I wouldn’t choose to return to the Medina, honestly, but for a first visit, Riad Joya is a great base for experiencing it.
