Riad Karmela Princesse

We stayed in a sister property, Zineb or Petit Karmela, in the heart of the medina. The room was comfortable, and the property felt peaceful and serene. We enjoyed walking around and sitting outside. Aziz was especially thoughtful, going above and beyond even for our smallest requests.

Finding the riad was the only real drawback. Even GPS struggled, though the staff were more than happy to collect us from where the taxi left us. Once we got our bearings, reaching the souks and many tourist spots was easy. Inside, the place felt welcoming and made us want to relax, with several courtyards, little bubbling pools, and comfortable furniture. The staff were soooo nice and clearly dedicated to guests' satisfaction. Breakfast and the other meals were excellent, served on the rooftop terrace.

Aziz and Mohammed made us feel welcome and like part of the family. They deserve a special mention for going above and beyond, and no request seemed too much. After my husband had changed to go home, Aziz even ran around the souk to find someone to repair his glasses. They came back like new. We recently had a fantastic stay at Riad Karmela, a gorgeous, authentic riad, and can't wait to return.

We stayed five nights. The riad was hard to locate, and you can’t be dropped right at the door, so ask the hotel to arrange an airport transfer. I was also disappointed to find they don’t serve alcohol, despite what the website says. If you want wine with dinner, you’ll need to go to a licensed restaurant.
