Riad Marrakiss

You can hear absolutely everything in this riad. The owners seemed to enjoy having friends over late into the morning, talking, shouting, and laughing loudly. The outside noise was bad too, with the front door knocking, squeaking as it opened and closed, and slamming through the night. The beds were tiny, rock hard, and very uncomfortable. Across four nights, I maybe got three hours of sleep a night. I’d spend my money elsewhere.

The location is excellent for restaurants and for exploring the old madina or heading out on day trips. The rooms are clean and functional, and the service was good. The receptionist didn’t speak English, but we got by with gestures. Breakfast was good too. My only real complaint was the very noisy aircon, though it did work. Wi-Fi is available, but only around reception. I’d recommend the riad if you’ll mostly be out and just need somewhere to sleep.

Abdul was spectacular after my long day of travel, helping me check in and carry my bags to the room. The place was very clean and quiet, and the service was hospitable and efficient. Had a great stay.

Finding the riad for the first time can be tricky in the crowded medina, but inside it was quiet and peaceful during our January visit. The experience was pristine. There’s hot water, a terrace, and Wi-Fi, though Wi-Fi only works in open areas like the terrace or ground floor. The staff were kind and cleaned the room during the day. Go up to the terrace for a lovely view across the medina and part of the city.
