The renovation of the rooms and lobby made a strong impression on me, especially the full teak decor. I got a free upgrade, and the customer service was excellent, with warm, helpful staff. Breakfast was typical for Mandalay. The spa was being renovated during my stay, so I couldn't try it, but I hope to next time I visit. I'd recommend the hotel to anyone coming to Mandalay. It's worth asking about a free upgrade, since they may offer one if there's availability.

Breakfast was decent, though the hotel itself felt a bit old. For the level of service, it seemed slightly more expensive than other hotels.

There were mosquitoes everywhere, and some noise at night. The room felt old, with cheap facilities that weren't very good, while breakfast was plain and ordinary. Paying in USD was a big problem: they wouldn't take bills that were old or dirty, or even ones with very clear security fibers. It's extremely crazy. Be careful 🙃

There's spacious parking and the service was good. The hotel is on well-known 78th Street, with easy access to Maha Muni Pagoda and Mandalay University. An event room on the ground floor is used for wedding receptions, dinners, and other events.
