Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Medica Sur by IHG

The employees were nice, and I appreciated that they spoke good English since I don’t know much Spanish. My room was large and pleasant, with a big shower. The bed was quite firm but I still slept comfortably. The towels felt scratchy. It was about what I expected, and I’d probably stay here again if I came back to this location.

Most of the staff are very kind, and they did a good job cleaning the bathroom after I reported it. Still, the black mold didn’t come off easily, and there may be a bigger mold problem beneath the surface. The bathroom generally looked dirty, and the carpet had many stains that made the room seem very unclean. The rooms need maintenance. WiFi was very slow, and the TV uses coaxial cable with poor picture quality, though it supports 4K if you bring your own streaming device.

A live band and fireworks started very close to the hotel at 6 AM, making it hard to sleep, though I can’t really blame the hotel for that. The room was the highlight: spacious, contemporary, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a great view. As Holiday Inns go, this was about as nice as it gets. The hotel is oddly located inside a hospital complex. It’s signed fairly well, but taxi drivers may have trouble finding their way around. There’s a 24-hour Starbucks nearby in the complex, and the area felt fairly safe at night. Breakfast was OK; the restaurant had no character or atmosphere, although the view was nice. I’d give the stay 7/10.

It’s consistently clean, and the staff are nice and helpful. There’s a small gym you can use without paying extra. The nightly price feels high for a room and use of that little gym, with no meal or anything else included. There is a restaurant on site, but it’s independently run. It’s a Wings restaurant, and the food is OK, with decent meals available, though expensive for what you get.
