Bunk Hotel Amsterdam

The rooms were clean, and the staff were very friendly. Apart from one major inconvenience, I had a positive stay. Breakfast was included, but it wasn't self-service like at most hotels. You had to wait to be served as you would in a cafe or restaurant. On four of the five days, service was really slow. I usually need breakfast quickly so I can get on with my day, and the long wait to order followed by another wait for the food was quite inconvenient.

The building has been arranged beautifully to preserve the look of its church bones, and the rooms were quiet. The staff were also super nice and helpful. We travelled with our four-year-old, and it was family friendly. Getting downtown was quick: about a 10-minute walk to the ferry, then around five minutes on the ferry. Fantastic experience. We'd definitely come back!

The room was compact, but clean and neatly arranged, and the whole stay felt like a different kind of experience. We did run into a small snag with self check-in and check-out because our surname contains a Turkish character. The staff sorted it out straight away. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the metro, then roughly 15-20 minutes to the city centre. One thing we missed was a free place to leave our luggage until our flight. Other hotels on our trips have offered that, so perhaps a locker for 3-4 hours could be provided.

The restaurant was a real highlight, with a clever menu, and there’s a small shopping centre just around the corner. You’re also within walking distance of the NoordZuidlijn, only one stop from Amsterdam Central Station. My company recently got to spend a night at Bunk, and he was really looking forward to it. He was welcomed warmly and shown around the building. Everything was clean and looked after, and sharing the space with other people hardly felt noticeable. Staff regularly checked that things were tidy and were ready to help. The decor was lovely too. Definitely recommend.
