We received a check-in code at 13h45 saying we could enter, but when we reached the room, the door was open and someone was still cleaning inside. He didn’t leave until 14h15. From then on, the building and room made for an uncomfortable visit. The first things we encountered were overflowing garbage bags around a bin, bags of dirty bedding, and an extremely steep flight of stairs that may not be regulated. The room had no door between it and the bathroom, so the toilet and shower were visible from inside. The shower was broken and came loose from the wall easily, spraying water everywhere. Even being careful, the tiny shower indentation meant water covered the whole bathroom floor. The cleaner hadn’t properly made the bed. The “bedside table” was about 40 cm above the bed, so reading in bed meant lying down, and only one bedside light worked. There was no light over the kitchen sink. Outside the window was a small, enclosed area inside a set of buildings, full of cigarette butts and ventilators. The sound insulation seemed poor too, since we could hear other couples having sex throughout both nights. Do not recommend. I wouldn’t come back.

We stayed in an apartment for three people, with one large bed and one couch. It was clean, practical, and close to Chinatown, the historical center, and Baruch Spinoza statue. It had what we needed: a pan, enough plates and eating utensils, a big trash can, oven, kettle, stove, digestor, sink with drinkable water, good lighting, plenty of storage, a fridge, and a cabinet for jackets. The bathroom had enough towels and a shower with highly adjustable water.

This place feels more like an Airbnb than a hotel. Housekeeping wasn’t very friendly and didn’t give off good vibes, though I wasn’t there for hospitality. Check-in went smoothly and was enjoyable, and the room was lovely and clean when I arrived. The shower had a strong stream, and Rituals shampoo and hand soap were provided. I slept on the couch because I could enjoy the room better that way, but the bed was comfy too. The balcony or little rooftop was clean. The kitchen had a clean induction stove, cutlery, plates, pans, and cups. The location is beautiful, and you have a lot because of it. I’d recommend a 10/10 stay.

I wish zero stars were an option. We came to The Hague as part of our Netherlands trip, arrived at the room, fell asleep, and woke up to bed bugs crawling around us. I flipped the mattress and found more. I’ll leave the comments to you. We contacted the booking owner, who said the only thing they could do was give a full refund because all the rooms were booked. I’m sitting in a café now trying to find somewhere else to stay, without the refund money since it’ll take a week to arrive. Think four or five times before booking, so you don’t lose a whole day finding somewhere new and worrying you’ll carry bed bugs home. Just FYI, the owner said they were very, very sorry and that this kind of invasion usually happens every 2-3 months. That makes it seem like no one had flipped the bed to check for about a month.

If you want to be in the city center, the location is perfect, right in the middle of the shopping street. Several bars and restaurants are around the corner, though nothing is directly below, so nighttime noise is okay. There are several nearby parking spaces, all paid, which is expected in the city center. It’s really just a room rental, not a hotel. Unless you pay extra for daily cleaning, you get no cleaning and no fresh towels. I didn’t receive clean towels once during my two-week stay. The mattresses were terribly soft, though that may come down to personal preference. They had no proper covers, just one straight sheet that came loose after I turned over twice, leaving me on the bare mattress every morning. That didn’t feel hygienic. The duvet was okay. The rooms don’t all match the pictures. I’m 100% sure the kitchenette in the photos had something like an electric stove, but ours only had a microwave/oven and the bare minimum of cutlery. Also, there’s no door between the bedroom and the toilet/bathroom, so bear that in mind.
