Comfort Hotel Grand Central

We could reach the hotel from Oslo Central through a big food and shopping court without going outside, and the employees were warm and welcoming. This was our second stay at this funky place with a youthful vibe. Our room was long and narrow, but spacious enough for our electric wheelchair to fit near the door. We didn't book an accessible room this time because we didn't need one. Room 235 also has a great view. The hotel isn't fully step-free, so make sure to be clear about any accessibility needs when booking. Breakfast was amazing, probably the best bacon of all time.

A decent budget stay with small but comfortable rooms and a respectable breakfast. You can walk straight in from inside Oslo Central Station. It's fairly packed, though, so switching rooms might be difficult. I'd recommend it for a stay.

The staff were polite and helpful, and the price felt good for the location and room with breakfast. Breakfast was good, with standard choices. The hotel sits right at the train station, handy for reaching Oslo's attractions. With luggage, it's easier to use the station's side entrance before the exit, rather than the main door, which has an uncovered stone path. The room was very clean and compact, but the toilet was spacious. The bed was comfortable, though the pillow was too soft and low. There's no housekeeping unless you're staying multiple nights. The shower was strong and heated up quickly.

Getting around by train was easy because the hotel is right by the station and fairly central. Lots of places are walkable, including the Opera House, the munch museum, bus stations, the parliament building, the Grand Hotel where the Nobel Peace Prize winner walks out to the balcony, and Karl Johans Gate. On the way to our room, we could see the old train station, now sort of a mall, beside us. Picture included. The buffet breakfast was decent for something included in the room price. It had cereal, oats, granola, salad, hot foods like eggs, sausages, and bacon, plus coffee, water, detox water, apple and orange juice, assorted pastries, and even a ginger shot. We didn't like the ginger shot much, but it definitely woke us up. There wasn't a huge selection, and I'd avoid arriving in the final two hours if you want a seat. We saw people queuing and looking for tables as we left, though we didn't run into that ourselves. Our room, either comfort or standard double, was smaller than we expected, with a tiny window facing the neighboring building's windows. There were no basic toiletries like toothbrushes or toothpaste, though you could buy them at reception. The carpets in the hallways gave us painful static shocks when we tapped our lift and room cards, and sometimes even at the beds. We dreaded using the cards. Staff seemed limited, with one person at the main counter, and there was no room phone to call room service. Room service only partly cleans the room on the fourth night.
