Kailash Boutique Hotel

A calm place to return to after the trek, and we stayed here both before and afterward. The rooms are roomy and clean, and the hotel stays quiet despite being in a lively part of Kathmandu. Staff are attentive, and the manager knows a lot about trekking and things to do around the city and elsewhere in the country. It worked perfectly as our Kathmandu base.

Dol, the manager, deserves a special mention for being professional, friendly, and personally attentive. He was always around to help things run smoothly. The rest of the team were just as caring and courteous, which made us feel valued and relaxed throughout our stay at Kailash Boutique Hotel. The welcome was warm, and our room was comfortable and well kept. A memorable stay, and I’d recommend it for the service, comfort, and welcoming feel.

We were three kiwi guests, a couple and one solo traveler, and all had a great time at Kailash Boutique Hotel in Thamel, Kathmandu. Breakfast was fantastic, and the rooms were spotless and spacious. We could easily shop for trekking gear nearby. When we needed to add a last-minute night after our trek, the staff looked after us and were quick to respond. Dol, the manager, was especially helpful with tips for the trek we were doing. Highly recommend.

We came back to Kailash three times during our Nepal trip, and each return meant smiles and mango juice. Kathmandu can be chaotic, so having a quiet, welcoming hotel to come back to was a real comfort. The staff were excellent, and the hotel felt clean and secure. It’s well placed for walking to sights, shops, and restaurants, though we often liked eating at the hotel restaurant more than other places we tried. They also arranged laundry, kept some of our bags while we trekked, and served an excellent breakfast. We first stayed a few nights after arriving, went to Chitwan NP, returned before trekking in the Himalayan mountains, then came back again for a few days before leaving the country. A great stay, highly recommended.
