We first stayed here for three days after landing in Kathmandu, then came back for our last two days after a week traveling around Nepal. The area is quiet, yet just a few minutes’ walk from Thamel. The rooms were solid, breakfast was good, and there’s a great rooftop restaurant. Staff were polite, helpful, and always around when needed. Wi-Fi worked well too. Good value for money.

The location worked perfectly for exploring the city, and the rooftop restaurant and bar have a great view over it. Free parking was a big help for us. The welcome and attention to detail started as soon as we arrived, and all the staff, from reception to the restaurant, were courteous and worked hard to make us comfortable. Special thanks to Ram Pyakurel, Manager Mr. Karki, and breakfast waiter Sajna. They went out of their way to make our stay and breakfast enjoyable, and their kindness and care really stood out. We had a great experience and would gladly recommend Timber House by Tara Group for its comfortable stay and excellent service.

Right near Thamel’s busy streets, Timber House By Tara Group still felt like a peaceful retreat. I was struck by the traditional Nepali-style decor and beautiful wood carvings. The rooms were warm, clean, and comfortable, and the food was excellent. Staff were friendly and incredibly helpful throughout our stay. A lovely place for high-quality hospitality.

The Timber House team made the stay especially lovely. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, and wonderful. Rooms are roomy and comfortable, with wonderfully hot showers, and the laundry came back quickly and well done. Meals were fantastic, and the buffet breakfast was a great way to start the day. I’d recommend trying the Friday or Saturday barbecue and live music. I also enjoyed hot lemon with honey and ginger at breakfast while eagles soared nearby, and another hot lemon at the restaurant in the afternoon, when clear weather let me see snow-covered mountains in the distance. It has all you need for a short or long stay in Kathmandu.
