Astra Motor Lodge

It was okay overall, and they do take dogs, though a water bowl would have been nice. Our room wasn’t the best: a side table was missing and hadn’t been replaced, the bathroom stool was dirty and rusty, and the bathroom needs some TLC. The mirror needs work, the walls need painting, and the marks on the kitchen wall need Jiff or a coat of paint. The grassed area needs weeding and has poisonous plants. We went for a walk and came back to find our room being cleaned even though we hadn’t left yet. Hmmmm.

The bed was very comfortable, and the room had everything I needed. There was a free washing machine and a small washing line, as well as a pay-as-you-go dryer. The motel is a short distance from the hospital, and staff gave us information about the shuttle. We didn’t know how long we’d need the rooms, and they accommodated that too. We’d made a short-notice trip from Taranaki Base to Waikato Hospital, and the staff at Astra Motor Lodge couldn’t have been more helpful. We weren’t arriving until after midnight, so they accommodated the late hour by leaving a light on and the door open. The young woman at reception went the extra mile and was much appreciated. I’m sorry I didn’t see you when I checked out early to go back to the hospital. Thank you so much.

The location, beds and lovely bathrooms were all great. The owner, the beautiful lady at the front desk, gave lovely service too. Loved everything. Well done ❤️

The team at Astra were so helpful when a few complications meant we had to extend our stay. Thanks for making our time in Hamilton much less stressful than it would have been otherwise.
