The apartment was dated, but it was brilliant value for money, with friendly people and a spot close to Timaru's supermarkets and Caroline Bay. It was huge, with a full kitchen, large TV with Sky, and a carport. There were two single beds downstairs, another single under the stairs, a bed in the upstairs lounge, and a queen in the upstairs bedroom. The bathroom had a spa bath and separate shower. Parking was very tight, and the driveway quite steep.

The price was absolutely fair, and the service was good with friendly people. It's a spacious, clean, pleasant place, though the building is somewhat used. Fine for a night's sleep while travelling elsewhere. The standard was much better than more expensive motels in Wellington. We were a family of five on a short stay.

The room rate reflected the worn but usable fittings. Our room 9 was at the back, with some road noise, though being at the bottom of a steep drive helped. It was a big room with a huge bed and triangular spa bath. The kitchenette had a standalone double electric hob, but only two teaspoons in the drawer. Coffee was Cafe del Sol, and town was close. Parking on the slope was a bit tricky, and despite the numbered spaces we weren't parked outside our unit. Friendly service and a really quick checkout.

The hosts were friendly, and the rooms were clean, nice and spacious. A little dated, but it did the job. The bed was very soft. The spa bath was just a bath, not the corner unit shown in the pictures.

The place may be a little dated, but everything else more than makes up for it. The rooms are large, tidy, clean and so comfortable, and the staff are friendly and down to earth. I don't know why the rating is so low. We'll definitely be back!
