Yupay Inn Hotel

There's no reception desk, so call ahead to arrange your arrival. They'll give you the codes for the outside doors. The staff were very friendly, and the room felt cozy, with branded sheets and towels. WiFi worked, though the bathroom was very small. It's around a 15-minute walk to the city centre.

The view was the only good part, and it didn't make up for the awful service from the start. We waited 15 minutes outside because nobody was at reception, then another 15 minutes to check in. Our room was dirty and dusty, the bedspreads were dirty, and there was no hot water. The TV had no antenna either. A terrible experience. Don't go!

Our room was quiet, and they looked after our luggage on departure day. The hotel was decent and clean. Some staff understand English, others don't. Shower water was only lukewarm in the evening, but much warmer in the morning. The map pin is off: the hotel is 50 metres farther down the street, though the photos make it easy to find. I'd recommend it.

We had to pay 45 soles for a stained towel when we went to collect our things and check out the day after our September 26 stay. I objected and asked for the complaints book, but the receptionist said it wasn't there because it had been taken to another of their hotels. She offered no solution. Our bus was leaving soon and it was already late, so we paid to avoid missing it, unable to make the official complaint we should have been able to make, even though the reception wall said they had a book. At home, I washed the towel with ordinary detergent, and the stain came out easily without any extra products. I think it was unfair to charge us when they could have washed and reused it like any hotel or hostel would. It feels like this establishment is trying to make money however it can, so I don't recommend it. 👎
