There was plenty of room to hang out, with books to read, a guitar to play, and lots of seating. Breakfast is included, and it’s a good spot to unwind after hikes or spend time with other guests. Clara made me feel at home as soon as I arrived. She’s a great cook and takes wonderful care of her guests and her two dogs, Milo and Canela, both rescued from the streets of Huaraz and each with their own personality. Tony's House Hostel has a rustic, laidback feel and is a bit of a walk from the main center, about 20-30 minutes, though you can take a taxi. That walk is good exercise before hikes anyway. I had a great stay and highly recommend it to people who bring positive energy.

We stayed here three times between hikes, and I’m forever grateful to Carla for all her help. She gave us directions and guidance and kept trying to accommodate our check-in times. The rooms are comfortable, and the outdoor shower gets amazingly hot, which was such a plus after the long huayhuash hike. I highly recommend staying here.

Clara is such a compassionate person. She supports the local animal shelter and feeds homeless dogs to help keep them alive. She’s also incredibly helpful and will cook great food if you want to eat at the hostel. Tony's House Hostel is named after Tony the dog, who passed away in 2018. There are big outdoor spaces, with a guest kitchen, hammocks, chairs, and tables that are great for meeting other guests. The two dogs are really friendly and happy. Beds are comfortable, showers are hot, and breakfast is free, with great Peruvian coffee.

Carla was so helpful with tips on getting to nearby attractions, and the location worked perfectly for us. It’s a short walk into the city, in a relaxed residential area. We loved the peaceful, cozy space, especially the beautiful garden with plenty of room to relax, the well-equipped kitchen, and the hot shower after hikes. Carla’s warm company made us feel right at home, and her pizzas and desserts were delicious. The dogs greeted us energetically every morning and were a highlight. We were truly sad to leave Huaraz.

I loved the amazing garden and the beautiful place overall. It’s a nice spot if you prefer staying outside a busy town, and the host was amazing. I can’t recommend it enough.
