The hotel was really cold inside. At this price, there are better places to choose from.

My brother and I went to ask about lodging while walking downtown. I remembered a lovely park, like an oasis in the middle of Lima, and when we turned into it we noticed this place. It looked nice, especially because of where it was. I parked, and we went to the door and rang the bell. A man came out. When we asked for information, he aggressively told us this wasn't somewhere for us to do our dirty deeds, then went straight back into the hostel and slammed the door in our faces. We were both shocked by how unpleasant he was. At the time, I was artistic director of the international flautist symposium sponsored by the Peruvian-American Cultural Institute and the US Embassy. Part of my job was finding suitable accommodation for visiting international guests. This happened in the early 2000s. Every so often, remembering it makes me want to go back, record a video about the way we were treated, and share it widely on social media. I usually forget bad experiences, but whenever I think of Marco Aurelio Denegri, this one comes back because he lived in that neighborhood.

Good location, but the service was poor. The beds weren't made, and neither the room nor bathroom was cleaned. They say they're open 24 hours, but they close at 1 a.m. They also suggested restaurants far away that turned out to be closed, and called a taxi that cost more than expected without telling us.

I felt safe and secure during a very pleasant stay. It's a cozy, peaceful place, with attentive staff and a very kind owner. I'll definitely stay here again when I come back to Lima.
