Rosvenil Hotel

The front desk service was awesome, and breakfast was good. The cafe also serves good food, though some of the staff can have an attitude. It's a nice hotel in a repurposed old house.

The employees are extremely friendly and focused on service, and the location is very central. If you need to get to the outskirts, there are affordable transportation options nearby. The hotel is nice and affordable, though parts of the interior look worn and some technical things could be better, especially the shower's hot water. Breakfast is typical pinoy fare, nothing fancy. I do recommend it, as long as you don't look too closely.

The buffet breakfast had a good range of choices and was enjoyable, and the noisy air conditioner did cool the room effectively. Those were the bright spots in a stay that was otherwise disappointing. The room smelled musty and damp as soon as I entered, looked unclean, and had visible mold. It felt outdated and had no soundproofing: music and noise from an upstairs event came through, as did street noise, making it hard to relax or sleep. The restroom was visibly dirty, and the old towels were frayed at the edges. I wouldn't recommend staying here in its current state. I hope management addresses the cleanliness, condition, and noise issues promptly.

I love stopping here to rest when I first get to Tacloban. Even when there are lots of guests, it still feels like you're the only one there. There's an old-world charm alongside modern comforts, and the peaceful solitude is something you shouldn't miss.
