Lx Center Chiado

The room was pretty ordinary, but fine for a few nights if you're on a budget. There's a kitchen for cooking or putting something together, and I liked having AC. It's right in the city center, so the streets can be loud.

The bed is soft, everything's clean, and you can come and go as you like. I appreciated the simple anonymity. The only contact was on arrival, when a very friendly, beautiful person collected the fee and handed over the key. Nobody tidies the bed or empties the bin during the day. The street gets full of people drinking and talking at night, but it stays peaceful. The murmuring can even lull you to sleep. The stairs are terribly steep and narrow. Hope I can come back someday :)

I had a confirmed booking and was arriving late from the airport, but no one was there when I got to the hotel at 23:45. I'd tried the Google number that morning, but it was clearly wrong and nobody replied. I called all the numbers listed on the door, with no answer, so I had to walk around hoping to find another hotel with a room. They still haven't responded to me. I've traveled all over the world and rarely encountered this kind of negligence.

The location was good, but the beds were uncomfortable, the pillows were sad, and the room was cold with too few blankets. I found someone in the kitchen who gave me an extra one. It was hard to raise anything else because of the language barrier. Reception was empty, and nobody answered my four calls to the hostel phone or my messages until after checkout. Then they said I should have brought my concerns to reception, where no one had been. You hear the street, as expected, but also every door closing and people walking around, so bring earplugs. The room didn't look like the photos, the wifi was poor, and the stay wasn't worth what we paid.
