Pensão Flor da Baixa

We found the double room pretty cramped, with maybe half a meter around the bed and not much else. The windows also didn’t shut properly, so street noise was always coming through. Still, it’s tidy and cosy, the location is great, and the price is good. There’s free, tasty coffee and homemade sweets, too. A good option for backpackers travelling on a budget.

The room was very snug, with just what you need for a few nights. The bathroom, by contrast, was huge, and had a lovely little balcony with windows you could open to see the whole street. We left them open at night to cool down. The main problem was the keycard. It kept failing, and even the replacements were unreliable. The hotel is also in the middle of the busy restaurant area north of Rossio, where the waiters’ pushy approaches in the street got tiring pretty quickly.

We had a noisy street, and there was no bathroom in the room. Still, it was super clean, and I never saw another guest. For the price, it was fine and perfect for our overnight layover. It’s near a metro stop, and getting back to the airport was easy.

Everything in our double room with a bathroom was clean, and the towels were changed daily. There’s a Nespresso Zenius machine in the hall with free coffee and tea, which was more than perfect. The staff were friendly and helpful, and reception is open 24/7. The accommodation went beyond what I expected for its class, and I enjoyed staying at Flor da Baixa. I’d gladly return. It’s a nice pensão in an excellent location, close to Restauradores and Rosio Metro. There are lots of lunch and dinner choices on the same street, and theatres nearby, including Coliseu dos Recreios.
