Varandas do Bairro Alto

It was comfortable, clean and had what we needed, in a good location where we felt safe and secure. The double windows blocked much of the noise, though we could still hear some nighttime music and people outside. Blackout curtains would be nice, but that's a small thing. The bigger concern was the hot water heater being set too high. We were warned, yet the first shower was still scary. I'd recommend the place overall.

The host, Pedro, was a big help and shared lots of Lisbon tips so we could enjoy our visit. We stayed in a spacious apartment with two double bedrooms and comfortable beds, two bathrooms with showers, a proper kitchen and a living room. It's on a quiet street between Bairro Alto and Chiado, near restaurants and nightlife. The walk downhill to Praca dos Restauradores takes about 10 minutes, and the Elevador Gloria gets you back up, followed by a two-minute walk. We heard a lot of noise from the apartment above on our first night, then it was quiet for the rest of our stay.

I didn't stay in the ground-floor flat, but the building itself is nice and clean, with plenty of bars and restaurants just outside.
