Annex 1647

The breakfast was the star for us: one of the best buffets I've had, especially compared with Europe, where hotel breakfast can disappoint. There was loads to choose from, sweet and savoury, even cream cake. We also had a very good birthday dinner in the restaurant. I'm not usually keen on small plates, but they were done really well. The Kimchi Cauliflower was a surprising standout, and the ice cream with caramel sauce was excellent. We visited just before Christmas and found a quirky boutique hotel in an old building full of period details. The rooms were small but decorated beautifully, and the beds were very comfortable. The shower pressure could be better, and the rooms had no tea, coffee, or water apart from tap water. Still, the rest was great. Most staff were friendly and helpful, though the breakfast team weren't as friendly as the others. The location on Sodermalm made it easy to explore on foot, including walking to Gamla Stan. There's no pool at the hotel, but Forsgrénska Badet, with its pool and sauna at a reasonable price, was only a five-minute walk away. I'd definitely stay here again when I return to Stockholm.

Breakfast was the best I've had at a hotel, or even a restaurant. You could taste the care in the food, and everything was delicious, with something different each day. Some main dishes and desserts rotated daily while the staples stayed the same, so I always looked forward to the next morning. The staff were so kind too, bringing cookies over for us to try while they were still freshly baked. I'll be looking for a Hotel Frantz chain on future trips.

We had one of the best meals of our lives at Anno 1647 last Friday evening. Every dish we ordered was indescribably delicious, and since returning to the UK I've spent days trying to find where to buy that wonderful Chablis. The two chefs, one Syrian and one Sudanese, made something magical together, and our server and all the other staff were delightful. The restaurant Anno 1647 at Hotel Frantz deserves its own Google review page, if it doesn't already have one. If it does, it should be easier to find. It was expensive, but worth every krona, and I can't wait to go back and recommend it to others.

The staff made such a difference, from keeping in touch to helping us change rooms. Our first room felt too small for two people over three days, so we politely asked whether another was available. We moved the next day, which worked out fine, and the new room was still cozy and lovely. We even extended our stay. This place is so charming, and I can't recommend it enough.
