Mosebacke Hostel

We were a family of four and had a private room with plenty of space. It was clean and there wasn’t any real noise to bother us. It felt a bit cold, but that was okay in winter. The location is excellent, with good connections and plenty of street parking. Breakfast only ran for an hour in the morning, but that worked for us. I was pleasantly surprised by the hostel. For a cheap hostel, it’s really good, and I don’t quite get all the bad reviews.

It’s cheap, and that’s about the only good thing. The bathroom door handle wasn’t even attached, though it only needed a couple of screws, apparently too much maintenance. The Wi-Fi didn’t reach my room, and the shower was basically 2C water, so the advertised shower and Wi-Fi weren’t really available to me. It wasn’t worth the price, and the booking.com reviews and pictures led me astray. I need to remember to check negative Google reviews too, always.

We booked two rooms and found both absolutely filthy. There was hair all over the beds, floors, and bathrooms, dried toothpaste on one sink, and, worst of all, bedbugs. We left as soon as we saw the state of the rooms and didn’t stay overnight. This was one of the dirtiest hotels I’ve ever seen. Avoid it.

The location is great, and there were lots of hooks and hangers in the room. Still, I won’t stay again. The private room price wasn’t worth it, even though the place is cheap. The photos make it look nicer than it is; it’s shabby and needs a better clean. My review on booking.com is now archived, and the photos and description were misleading. The private bathroom looked nothing like the picture. The description said there was A/C, but there wasn’t, just a manual fan and a dusty exhaust fan. It wasn’t too hot that evening, though I can imagine it getting very hot and stuffy in high summer. The fan was noisy all night, and the walls were thin.
