Bangkok City Link Hotel

The first room, 309, had decent internet even by the window, but the bathroom smelled of cigarettes, so we asked to move. The woman who helped with the room change was kind, as was the person who checked us in. Room 307 had very weak internet. When I called about it, one woman said it was free and there were lots of users, as if I should just accept the slow connection. It was part of what we paid for, and it still wasn't working at 3am. Another, kinder woman answered between 2 and 4am and blamed my laptop settings, offering to help if I brought it downstairs. I didn't, because I knew that wasn't the problem. I'd never needed to change settings on my macbook, and my son found the internet worked near our door, so we stayed and worked there instead. Noise was the biggest issue. Sound from outside came right into the room, and a door slammed a few rooms away loudly enough to wake me as if it were ours. A woman recovering from plastic surgery and her relatives, including children, roamed the corridor even at 3am, night after night, while staff did nothing. I wonder how many guests they'd disturbed before us. I think they were there more than a week because the woman was having her whole face changed. The noise was extreme, even though I usually sleep through some noise. I also noticed a short-haired woman, with her hair always down around shoulder length, taking pictures of us or other customers. I don't think staff should photograph guests. I'm not sure, but she may have been the rude person on the phone, the one who said the internet was free and implied we should be grateful if it worked. There was mold between the bathtub sections too. I won't come back.

It's handy for the station, and there's a 7-Eleven along the way. The room was relatively inexpensive, but mine was near the highway entrance, where traffic and motorcycles using the road as a shortcut made noise all night. The accelerating cars were bad, and the motorcycle engines were especially irritating. Earplugs didn't help. A few little ants appeared while I was eating, seemingly from nowhere, and they'll swarm if you leave food out. The women on staff were fairly friendly; the men were unfriendly and unimportant. The male staff, especially the ones who looked like sumo wrestlers, had bad attitudes and annoyed me. If those things don't bother you, the hotel is convenient and close to the station.

Ploy at the front desk was especially thoughtful. My friend had left her phone in the lobby, and Ploy wrapped it carefully in bubble wrap, put it in a box, and handed it to the driver so he wouldn't realize it was a phone. She was very polite and kind. The rest of the staff were also polite and kind, and the place was clean. It's in a strategic spot, close to a laundry, and the price felt worthwhile. I was really happy with my stay at Bangkok City Link Hotel and will recommend it to friends planning to stay near Pratunam.

Quiet spot with a great location and plenty of transport choices. The reception team and other employees were very kind. I especially liked the automatic coffee machine, with all its different flavors, and there were lots of cookies and fruit juice. I'll come back and recommend it.
