Baan Karon Hill Phuket Resort

SCAMMER ALERT! The room was dirty and unhygienic, with cockroaches and no water. We had a confirmed booking through MMT and had paid in full, but the man at reception denied the booking ID and refused to give us a room. He gave rooms to foreigners at an overpriced rate instead. We literally begged for a servant’s room for one night.

The balcony view of Karon Beach from my deluxe chalet, which I booked in December 2025, was the only positive. The resort is a group of buildings on a hillside overlooking Karon Beach in Phuket. A winding set of steep steps takes you down to the beach, but climbing back up to the room was exhausting. I had to stop several times to catch my breath. The room was badly maintained, with several insects inside when I arrived, including a gecko. There were lots of old, squashed mosquitoes on the walls. The toilet overflowed while refilling with water, and I banged my head twice on the low bathroom doorway. The shower switch on the wall is right above the shower and seems like an electrocution waiting to happen. The view alone isn’t worth it. I’d advise booking elsewhere.

Getting to the room meant climbing up and down a hill, and the facilities felt very poor and unsafe. Breakfast was handled by the cleaner and offered little beyond eggs, toast, and jam, plus dairy that doesn't work for people with lactose intolerance. Staff couldn't speak English or even read Thai.

A large amount of money was stolen from my bag while I was out. When I asked the hotel about it, they said they couldn't do anything and that I could do whatever I wanted. Absolutely terrible experience.
