The location pin on Google Maps is wrong. The hotel is above origami cafe, with the entrance at the back of the main road. The cafe is on the ground floor, and Blu monkey boutique hotel Phuket town has rooms on levels 2-4. We stayed in a twin room with a toilet and standing shower. It looked onto a bricked-up backyard or balcony, which was handy for washing, though a place to hang clothes would have helped. The room had a ceiling fan, but there was no fan in the room otherwise. The curtains were thin and badly fitted, so they didn't block all the light from the balcony. A mouldy drain smell lingered, and there were often mosquitoes, perhaps because it's mosquito season. Water pressure and temperature were difficult during our five days, though housekeeping kept the toilet clean. The spacious shared areas on levels 2-4 are beautifully set up for Instagram, and there are fridges on levels 3-4 for personal food and drinks. The cafe and reception are open daily from 8am to 5pm. Guests get the password for the main door and the level 2 metal door. Nearby you'll find massage and mani-pedi spas, a 7 eleven, and food stalls. It's a nine-minute walk to the Sunday walking market.

The cafe downstairs served amazing breakfast, and the bed was the most comfortable one I slept in during my trip to thailand. My wife and I loved the cute boutique hotel. Just keep in mind it doesn't offer the same service level as a Resort. The shower was a little awkward and the hot water took a while to reach the room, but everything else was amazing.

We were in Phuket Old Town, just a short walk away, and stayed three nights. There was lots of space in the common area for relaxing or working, with board games and free tea and coffee on every floor. The staff were friendly, and the included breakfast from origami cafe, a specialty coffee chain here in thailand, was good. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom was large, with both a shower and bathtub.

There was no one at reception in the evening, and the entrance was locked. Since there's no elevator, we had to carry our luggage upstairs. We didn't find the staff particularly friendly or welcoming, and only had contact with them at checkout.

The biggest hassle is the stairs, since there's no elevator, so bring that in mind if you've got heavy luggage. Still, we loved our stay and would definitely come back. We've tried a few Blue Monkey hotels in different cities around Thailand, and they've all been great, but this one felt extra special. The theme and vibe were cute and unique, with everything well thought out, clean, and tidy. Housekeeping, the front desk, and café staff were all friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a highlight, and the coffee was some of the best I've had in Thailand!
