The kitchen was decent and most other things seemed fairly clean. My bed was clean, but the shower was pretty grim, and I had to force myself to use it. I’m not sure how often it gets cleaned. The staff were lovely, attentive, and helped whenever I needed it. Towels weren’t supplied, though maybe you just have to ask, so don’t quote me on that. The terrace probably works better in summer, because rain poured through when I was there. It wasn’t a bad stay, just not enough for a five. I’d say go and decide for yourself, don’t rule it out because of me.

The guy at reception didn’t seem welcoming at all, and looked bothered that anyone had come in. Aside from two desks at reception and the kitchen, there didn’t seem to be a common area in winter. The outdoor terrace was freezing, so I imagine it’s much better in summer. It’s a cute little hostel in a great spot, about 200 meters from Galata Tower in the heart of Istanbul. I paid a very reasonable price for a four-bed women-only dorm with a private bathroom and hot shower. The bed was super comfortable, the heating worked well, and everything was very clean.

It wasn’t the cleanest hostel I’ve stayed in, though it was fine overall, and the rooms were decent but nothing fancy. The terrace was the standout, with a great view of Galata and the city, and it was a nice place to meet people and make friends. The hostel is well placed for getting to most things a tourist needs, though the metro is a bit far. There’s a small kitchen for fixing a simple meal or snack, and the cozy lobby works well for sitting with a laptop. Staff were really helpful.

I’m in my third week here now, after arriving on 3.02.2026. Galata West Hostel is tiny, but it has what you need, with clean rooms, a kitchen for cooking, friendly people looking after us, and nice travelers to meet and share with. The rooftop has a great sunset. Thank you! :) The location is great, about a five-minute walk to Kadikoi Bosphorus and Galata Tower, and ten minutes farther up to Taksim. Shops for buying good things to eat are close by too. I highly recommend coming, you’ll feel comfortable and enjoy it! Elio from Switzerland

I only stayed a day, but nahid was so hospitable. I was meant to just drop my bag, and he let me check in five hours early, gave me food, and was great to chat with. I’d recommend staying here.
