Grand Madrid Hotel

The location and the view from the restaurant or cafeteria were the only good parts for me. The hotel staff weren’t very welcoming, and getting by in English was a big problem. The room was dull, with no sound insulation in the walls or doors. I could hear people whispering in other rooms, and could see people walking along the corridor through the gap below the door. At times it felt like someone was coming into our room, which was very uncomfortable. The beds were extremely noisy, and the shower had no pressure when using warm water. The toilet looked dirty, and the electricity went out every five or ten minutes. We asked many times for tissues but never got any. Room service only made the bed, without cleaning, and they never changed our towels, just hung them up to dry. There was no minibar, so we couldn’t make tea or coffee in the room. I wouldn’t recommend staying here for an enjoyable trip. The quality was poor, and it’s definitely not a four-star hotel. It might do in a real emergency. I don’t know why people rate it so highly, it’s misleading.

I’m around 100 kg, and when I injured my leg on vacation, the staff carried me on their backs to my room. I didn’t want them to at first, but they went ahead and helped. It was a really kind gesture, and I’m very thankful for the great service.

We were on our honeymoon and loved our stay. It was affordable, a great experience, and we had no complaints. Whenever we’re in Istanbul, we’ll stay here.

Just okay, neither bad nor especially good. There’s a school nearby, so you can hear a little noise in the morning. The hotel is right by the local market, which is nice for shopping.
