Urban Quarters - Büklü Han

The rooms were spacious, well equipped, and beautifully renovated, with welcome drinks in the fridge and coffee pods for the Nespresso machine. The price and location were amazing. If you’re up for some walking, you can get to Hagia Sophia, blue mosque, grand bazaar, Galata tower, Galata port for shopping, and plenty more. Elif greeted us when we arrived and gave us such a friendly, helpful welcome. I’d highly recommend the place. For coffee, espresso lab on the waterfront opens at 7am daily. Faros Italian restaurant nearby was amazing, the best meal of our three-week trip. Try the garlic bread and beef Ragu.

The apartment is in great shape and very clean, with lovely wooden floors and a Roman-style feel. The bedroom has a good double bed and mattress, there’s a small living area with a cozy, practical couch, a compact kitchen that does the job, and a good bathroom with a toilet. One thing to know is that it’s close to a mosq, so you’ll definitely hear the call to prayer. It adds to the atmosphere. The location is really convenient for Istanbul’s highlights. Galata tower and bridge are very close, and across the bridge is the old city. Tram, metro, or taxi are about 150 meters away. There’s coffee and a pizzeria next door, a sandwich shop on the other side, and the Haman in the Ferran hotel is 50 meters away. The local pub on the corner is nice, too. Mumhane Cd. road is about 200 meters away, with lots of restaurants, street food kiosks, pubs, and bars. Highly recommended.

There’s a small supermarket and restaurants close by. We explored different neighbourhoods on foot and with Trams 1 and 5. Be ready for the call to prayer at 4:30am and 10:30pm. After three weeks of travelling, we were glad to reach Urban Quarters and finally have space and facilities to relax comfortably and catch up on washing our clothes.

All the details were handled online, and the communication was clear and thorough. Elif was welcoming and patient, especially when she had to help us get into the room remotely. Our room at Urban Headquarters was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the location is excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay, and I’d definitely recommend it and want to return on my next visit to incredible Istanbul.
