It’s about a 10 minute walk from the train station, which is a pretty good location. But this is a tired hotel, and at $70 it didn’t feel like good value. The walls had holes and marks, and you had to unplug the TV to turn it off. The very nice young man at the front desk was the only thing I found redeeming.

At the Sharon Inn, the first room I was given had bed bugs on the mattress. I asked to change rooms, and found bed bugs in the second one too. They said they’d refund my stay when I asked, but nothing ever showed up in my bank account. Avoid this place.

The staff were accommodating and made sure we had what we needed, including the necessary freebies. The amenities and service were satisfactory for a short stay in Taichung. Our room at Sharon Inn had no window, so it felt a bit confined, and a faint smell of smoke seemed to seep in. It worked as a quick stopover, but I wouldn’t choose it for a longer stay.

The room was good, and there are lots of Vietnamese, Indonesian, and Thai food options nearby. But every hour the air conditioning pump made a sound that was really disturbing, especially when I was trying to sleep.

The bed slanted, there were only two outlets on opposite sides of the room, and the elevator was loud. There was no noise insulation and no soap. While I was waiting to check in, I was told there wasn’t a bathroom I could use. The staff were friendly, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
