Tried Abbeydale It's always sunny in shireoaks at 4.2 and Burning Soul Isaac IPA at 6.2. Both were excellent quality. A great pub for proper real ale, highly recommended.

You wouldn't expect much from the outside, but inside it's a comfortable, warm and friendly local with a good selection of well-kept beers. The only drawback is that there isn't a car park, just an all-hours pay-and-display. I was there on Sunday evening and nobody had a ticket, so it didn't seem to be an issue then. There are no times shown on the meters, so I assume it runs 7/24.

We stopped in for lunch and a drink. The food portions were very generous and tasty, though I'm not sure how healthy they were. Service was friendly, and it felt like a proper old-fashioned pub, the kind that's disappearing in so many places. We're hoping to return for our Christmas meal.

A lovely old-fashioned local. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed some excellent real ales with a fresh, tasty sharing platter. Our twin room on the second floor was clean, warm and comfortable.

The double room was clean and cosy for our one-night stay. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful, and the food and beers were great. We'll definitely be back.
