Stewart by Heeton Concept Aparthotel Edinburgh

There was a nice wee pub right next door for the evening, and some really nice breakfast places within a five-minute walk. The location was great, and we'd stay again. The price was reasonable too. We booked at the last minute after deciding to stay overnight in the city. The entry emails were clear, but there's basically no parking, so we left the car in a large lot overnight and walked down. It was a nice walk. Inside, the place feels a little industrial, but it was just what we needed, with room for three and a separate bedroom. The only issue was that the bathroom got super hot. I guess that was nice for my wife coming in from the cold, haha. We recommend it.

The staff were friendly and nice, and they took note when we raised the cleanliness problem. The location is great, very central and easy to get around. The room wasn't particularly clean and felt a bit lacking. The sofa bed was uncomfortable, there was a lot of light coming into the room, and the doors were so loud you couldn't close them quietly.

I booked for NYE and paid in full in October, but on 30th December I got a call saying a "system error" meant the apartment wasn't available. Another group had also booked in October, and the "system" only told them about the double booking the day before we were meant to stay. They offered to put four adults in a Holiday Inn or refund us. After negotiating, they paid for a different apartment with another company, but I had to find it and provide all the details. Looking at earlier reviews, this doesn't seem to be the first time the company has done this. I have a suspicion we were gazumped.

The room worked well for me and my parents for an overnight stay. This aparthotel was right in the middle of town, on a quiet street, and Linsey at the front desk was a wonderful host. She made check-in and late checkout easy, and the cleaning and maintenance staff were lovely too. Can't speak more highly of it.
