Twin Lions Hotel

The hosts were incredibly sweet and made our trip more special. It’s good value for money, and I’d definitely stay here again when we return to Edinburgh. The rooms are small but comfortable and clean, and the friendly staff were really attentive. This is a lovely little bed and breakfast in Murrayfield, within walking distance of Edinburgh Zoo, which international travellers should see. It’s outside the main city centre, but there’s a bus stop right outside, making it easy to get around. Download the relevant app to work out which bus to take. They serve a simple breakfast each day.

The room was dated and a bit shabby, but spotlessly clean, and the bed was so comfy. I had free WiFi and a TV, which was enough for me. I booked a single room for two nights, 2nd-4th July, and knew the bathroom was shared, so that was reflected in the price. Breakfast was okay, with cereal, pastries and fresh fruit. You can also order a cooked breakfast, made fresh. Would I stay again? Yes.

The traffic noise from Corstophine road was chronic, even with the windows shut. Inside, things were dated and a bit scruffy, and the doors and locks were so loud that even considerate guests would struggle to keep quiet. The room was okay, but the jacuzzi bath looked like it had been repaired with brown parcel tape.

The staff were friendly and accommodating, and went out of their way to make the stay a good one. The room was nicely decorated and clean, with the amenities I needed, and the bed and good-quality linens were comfortable. Breakfast had a nice range of options and was quite good. I had a positive stay at this bed and breakfast, would give it 5 out of 5, and will definitely return.
