Rothwell House Hotel

The room we were supposedly upgraded to stank of weed. There were a few windows, but none would shut, so it was freezing, and there was a fire exit inside the room. The whole place made us feel uneasy and unsafe. Our “family room” had three single beds, spiders crawling over the pillows, and felt like a prison cell. Extremely unsatisfactory.

For two weeks it felt like a home away from home. The staff were brilliant, and there’s a bar, pool table, and comfy lounge with a large TV. Shops, pubs, and restaurants are all on the doorstep. I’ll definitely be back.

I left in the middle of the night and went to the Premier Inn at 5am because I couldn’t stand staying there. It was filthy from the moment I walked in, the walls were so thin I could hear everything, and there was no night manager around when something went wrong. The atmosphere felt dodgy, with a lot of riff-raff hanging around, and I didn’t feel safe at all. Then the hotel issued me a parking fine for using their carpark, even though I was a guest and had only been there a few hours before leaving because of how bad it was. They waited a week to send the fine, so it was close to the due date when it reached me. Save yourself the stress and book somewhere else.

The rooms are tiny, but they have what you need, and the price is very good. The car park isn’t very big. It’s a decent place to stay if you’re after a bargain and don’t need luxury.
