Norfolk Towers Hotel Paddington

I stayed from December 19-23, 2022, and had no running water on several days. I couldn't use the toilet, shower, or sink. The hotel knew about it, but staff offered no apology, help, alternative, or refund. I've emailed several times over the years since and never got a reply. It's deeply disappointing to have a basic necessity like water unavailable and still receive no refund. Avoid.

A basic hotel in a pleasant area, with everything close by. Our room was small, with two single beds, but the shower was really good and breakfast was essentially all you can eat. The bar didn't seem to get much use, though there are plenty of pubs nearby. The tube is a short walk away.

I booked a suite for my family because the hotel looked fancy and had a nice location near Paddington station. Our room was spacious and clean, with daily room service and a British breakfast each morning. But what we got was very different from the advertised rooms. The photos showed nice rooms on upper floors, while ours was in the basement. It was dim, and noise from a nearby metro line, the air conditioner outside the window, and other engines was constant. We couldn't hear the alarm clock over it. Then breakfast prep started after 6 am, with footsteps and furniture being moved, and woke us up. This isn't a place to rest. On top of that, our booking information was stolen from the hotel and we were scammed.

The room is snug, and the walls are thin enough that we heard everything from the neighbours, including doors slamming around 6am. The climate control only turns down, not off, and the window doesn't open, which felt claustrophobic if you like fresh air. We didn't spend much time in the hotel. It has a bar and restaurant, but when we returned yesterday evening, they were already closed, so check the opening times if you have late plans. We also had a false fire alarm just after going to bed. We evacuated for about 10 minutes, then went back to our room. At least the system works, though I hope you don't have to test it yourself. For the location, it's a decent place to crash near Paddington. St Mary's bus station is about a minute away, Hyde Park is a leisurely 10-minute walk, and Paddington station, with the Heathrow Express, is also 10 minutes away. The room has a TV, a good shower, and thoughtful touches like a heated bathroom mirror that works and an EU outlet. Worth it for the location if you keep your expectations realistic.
