Florence Gardens Boutique Hotel

There’s no lift, since the place is a converted Edwardian house, and the rooms are small but perfectly adequate. It was very clean, with an excellent breakfast and plenty of parking, though you need to ask for a space when you book.

The location worked really well for us, just a two minute walk from the seafront. Old town Portsmouth is a 30-40 minute walk, or there’s a very cheap bus every ten minutes. The hotel looked a bit deceptive when we first pulled up, but parking was easy and the staff were attentive and helpful. Our room was spotless and cleaned daily. We enjoyed the generous, tasty evening meal and the breakfast had lots of choice. The bed was a little too hard for us, but it’s a great place to stay and we’d recommend it.

It was a relief not having to hunt for street parking while driving those really narrow roads. The parking is tight, so booking a spot for your stay is a good idea. The Florence Gardens Hotel is a lovely, quaint little place, almost an oasis, and the staff are warm and understanding if you’re new to the area. They made us feel like regulars.

The staff were friendly and efficient, and even arranged a beautiful birthday cake for us from a local patisserie. We had a lovely one-night birthday stay. The hotel is gorgeous, tucked into a tiny lane, with a garden and conservatory restaurant and bar. We also ate at the Florence Arms gastro pub about 10 steps away, which is owned by Mercer. The seafront is only a three-minute walk away. Thank you!
