Montreal Beach Resort

The updates and remodeling have made this place really nice. Check-in was quick, the office looked updated, and the person checking us in was very nice. Our beds were comfortable, there were lots of pillows, and the old tub, the only part of the bathroom still remaining, was clean. My main suggestions would be a bigger TV and updated tub and shower fixtures. Room choice makes a big difference to the view. Most balconies face the ocean, but the first three rooms on each floor don’t have the same clear outlook. Rooms 401 and 402 share a balcony with the hotel sun deck directly in front and slightly above, so their view is partial. I think 403 is a suite with two balconies, one with a great view and another partly blocked by the sun deck and open to the balconies of 401 and 402. Rooms 301, 302, 303, 201, 202, 203, 101, 102, and 103 have the building beneath the sun deck in front of them. I believe some are part of suites, so ask the hotel about those views. Rooms 404 and up, 304 and up, and 204 and up have great ocean views. On the first floor, the pool and sand dunes across the street affect the view. For the best view, choose the highest floor and highest room number, which also puts you farthest from the office and pool and closest to the elevator. I hope to come back in summer. Also, the attached restaurant has really good eggs Benny.

You’re only steps from the sand, which is the best part of staying here if easy beach access is what you’re after. The resort has a classic, relaxing seaside feel, with a pool and patio bar right on-site, so it’s easy to settle in and unwind without going anywhere.

The beds were comfortable, and the room was nice. Maybe it was the off-season, but the rest of the place looked just okay. The front desk staff were nice. I didn’t like that housekeeping opened the door before checkout while we were in the living room and showering. I feel they shouldn’t knock on the door an hour before checkout unless someone has already checked out.

Diane at the front desk made checkout memorable. I mentioned the “Cool Cape May” book in our room and asked where to find one since Exit Zero had closed. She gave us a spare copy. It was worn and missing a few pages, which only makes it more meaningful to us. Rick was just as thoughtful, driving the shuttle and sharing new places to try even though my girlfriend and I have been coming to Cape May since we were kids. The free ride into town and pickup made getting around easy, especially in the cold, and Harry’s was an easy walk too. We had a great stay at Montreal Beach Resort and are already hoping to celebrate Christmas here in 2026.
