The area is quiet at night, and our bed was very comfortable. For the price, it’s a good room. I think every room has a kitchenette, so it could work well for a longer stay in Colby. The bathroom is small, with little room to move around, and there’s a shower but no tub. It seems to be a somewhat upgraded former motor lodge, so the parking is set up for regular cars.

The town of Colby is small and charming, with almost no crime. If cow tipping, random acts of kindness, or locals waving and smiling count as crimes, then maybe there’s some. I’m the security professional who lives on the premises, and there are security professionals here around the clock. Parking lots have video surveillance to help keep vehicles and belongings safe. This is a small, low-priced hotel, often used by tired travelers and construction crews. It’s a little rough around the edges while renovations are underway, but a lot of effort goes into making sure the rooms are clean and comfortable. The owner is a good man who genuinely cares, and he and housekeeping go above and beyond to make guests feel welcome.

We arrived around 2 in the morning, and the guy working was accommodating and helped us get a room. It costs less than other hotels nearby, though the place is pretty run down. The ceiling paint was peeling, and the water pressure could have been better. Still, the water was hot and the bed was comfortable. I’d stay again and recommend it to people who don’t mind a room that’s a bit beat up.

I felt safe here, and appreciated that the motel sits in a residential area instead of right by the main highways. I was in Colby to visit my daughter, who goes to school there. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and the kitchenette gave me space to work on craft projects. I’m usually not a fan of in-room coffee, but this was actually pretty decent. It’s more rustic than a Hilton, but a very good deal for the price. My family and I plan to stay here again when we return for graduation.

The owner canceled my credit card while I was paying, which flagged it for fraud, so I had to use a different one. Somehow I’m supposed to be grateful. The owner also owns the hotel in Oakley. Don’t stay here or at the hotel in Oakley. This is the worst hotel I’ve stayed in, worse than hotels in the Mentone, TX and Carlsbad, NM area. I’ve been staying here for a month, and the toilets still haven’t flushed solids in three tries. I paid for a kitchenette but there’s no stove. My trash hasn’t been collected in a week, and I haven’t had clean linens, towels, or vacuuming. I left for three paid days and came back to find the heater turned off. There are rodents in many rooms. The walls are paper thin, the shower water often runs onto the bathroom floor, and the sink drips constantly. The carpet might have been new in 1990.
