Hampton Inn College Park

My stay was going fine until I spotted a carpet beetle crawling on the bed. Then I saw two more on the other bed in the room. The front desk moved me to another room, which seemed better, though it smelled kind of funny.

The front desk staff were friendly and understood why I was concerned, but I checked out quickly and found a nicer hotel down the street. They said the room was a complimentary upgrade, yet the hallway smelled like pot as I stepped off the elevator. My room door looked as though it had been kicked or punched, with dents patched over using putty and paint. The kitchenette cabinet doors were dented and falling off. The place looked rundown and poorly maintained, and the room smelled old, dirty, and musty.

The hotel was comfortable and well placed for shopping and dining, with an IHOP right next door. Breakfast was complimentary, hot, tasty, and had a good selection. I gave it four stars because it’s an older property, and two outside windows had been replaced with boards, which hurt its appearance.

The front desk was helpful, and the location works if you need to be near College Park. The room itself was old and run-down. The bedroom TV had no signal, and the remote was gunky, so the cleanliness seemed below par. I regret booking this hotel.
