The equestrian suite was gorgeous, and it was great to have access to the mansion as well. Everything was cleaned well, and getting in was easy. The location is great, and the agency was quick to communicate. They do warn that an older property can mean noise from other guests, so we expected that.

February in Duluth was quiet, and that gave the Cotton Mansion's architecture room to stand out. While many people come for summer lake days or fall colors, I found the quietest month a lovely time to be here. The house felt grand but still intimate and lived-in, just right for a slow morning with a book and hot coffee. Outside, a grey February sky and biting wind made Lake Superior feel especially wintry. Inside, the mansion offered a warm contrast, with Italian Renaissance woodwork and a sense of historical care. Even without sunshine, the room felt bright. Heavy drapes, a crackling fireplace, and plush linens kept the gloom outside. After the busy holiday months, the mansion's quiet dignity felt like a welcome refuge, less like checking into a B&B and more like being embraced by another era.

We loved the home's cozy comforts and looked into booking another stay, but couldn't find a way to rebook or even view the other rooms on the website or other booking sites. The mansion was beautiful and dressed up for the holidays, with comfortable rooms, lovely large bathrooms, and plenty of shared space. There were convenient items for purchase and a nice breakfast snack too. The Wi-Fi throughout the building was poor, so settling in with a show at the end of the evening would have been nice, though that wasn't why we came.

We spent a mini-vacation in the Selena room, and the building was beautiful and quiet despite several rooms being occupied. The room felt cozy and thoughtfully put together. They had good toiletries available for anyone who'd forgotten shampoo, and the morning pastries and coffee were delicious. We appreciated the parking, too. It's an older building, and they've done a nice job keeping its antique character. There were a couple of small quirks: our clawfoot tub wobbled just a little, and the hot water tap at the bathroom sink dribbled slightly. Neither affected our trip, but it's good to know minor things like that may come with the stay.
