Extended Stay America Suites Dayton South

The mall and plenty of restaurants and shops are right across the street, which was the one good thing about this stay. Everything else was awful. We were moved here from another Beavercreek hotel the day before arriving because of construction, during a huge basketball tournament when local rooms were scarce and prices were up. We were promised comparable rooms and a discount, but my family of six, including four children under 12, got two rooms at opposite ends of the building instead of the adjoining rooms I had booked. Both rooms smelled terrible and had stained, filthy carpets. One door took several minutes of throwing my weight against it to open. The desk chair, dresser, and bedside table were falling apart, there was no TV remote, and the windows had no screens to keep bugs out, even though guests were asked to open them while cooking. The promised discount never came. The front desk attendant wasn't rude, but clearly didn't care and made no effort to fix anything. Some of the people staying there also made me uneasy. I didn't feel safe or clean, and I'm relieved we only had to stay one night. This is one of the worst hotels I've stayed in. I'd stay elsewhere.

The staff were pleasant, but the setup and room had a lot of problems. There are no elevators, just stairs, so my room had to be changed. The replacement was unmarked at the back of the building, and the supposedly accessible entrance had a heavy pull door that wasn't accessible. In the kitchenette, the fridge was jammed against the stove and wouldn't open properly. The food I managed to fit inside came out completely frozen and ruined. The TV remote didn't work either. It was noisy during the day, with large dogs barking constantly. Someone also tried to get into my room several times early in the morning because staff apparently thought it was vacant. They apologized for that. Apart from the major accessibility problems and what seems like a fire hazard in the kitchenette, it was okay. There are worse places, though I wouldn't necessarily recommend this one.

Cleanliness and the advertised non-smoking policy are basic requirements for me, and this place failed both. The building immediately smelled of cigarette smoke, and the room was heavily dusty, even over the smoke detector. It reeked of smoke, and the furniture was old. There were belongings under the bed, the bed skirt was dirty, and the mattress was visibly stained. I pulled off the sheets to check for bugs and didn't find any. The sheets themselves were clean. I'm very allergic to smoke and dust. After just ten minutes, I was having a panic attack from hives and irritated breathing. I had booked this extended stay for three months for a work assignment, but we had to leave. The front desk staff were understanding, refunded us in full, and were the only good part of that short interaction. Luckily, family a few hours away let me stay with them while I sorted out another arrangement.

I paid $1,800 up front for a month, then staff pounded on my door and accused me of not paying. Getting the room cleaned took a full week, and the replacement room I requested because of the conditions was even worse. There was no hot water, the rooms were dirty, pests were an issue, and the internet hardly worked. The front desk service was awful. Staff were often rude and unprofessional, seemed more interested in their phones than helping, and one person even cussed at me. This was one of the worst stays I've had. The place is a mess, and the way I was treated along with the conditions was unacceptable. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
