The Wanderlust Hostel

I booked a private room and found it really comfortable. It was nice to meet other guests over coffee and breakfast. I was traveling alone, so having friendly people to chat with between adventures meant a lot. The hostel was clean and welcoming, and I loved the vibe. Parking was easy, and it’s a short walk to a grocery store and the main downtown area. Staff were around whenever I had questions, needed help, or wanted local recommendations.

I spent 8 nights at the Wanderlust back in September and had a blast. The place is kept up really well, and the atmosphere makes it easy to meet people. Amy, the owner, knows the surrounding area inside out. She used to be a mountain guide and can point you toward a hike or outdoor activity that fits what you’re looking for. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

I’ve stayed at Wanderlust lots of times over the years, though it had been a few years since my last visit until this past weekend. It’s still as clean as ever, with courteous staff and a comfortable, safe feel. There’s plenty of parking, it’s easy to find, and the rental prices are always reasonable. Highly recommended.

The full kitchen is a nice option, and it’s in a quiet neighborhood away from busy highway traffic. Gunnison is small, so nothing is very far. The bed was comfortable, and the 10:00 quiet time made it much quieter than a hotel. I think my dog might do better here than in a hotel. The price stays the same year-round. I really liked it.
