Econo Lodge Harrisonburg

The room was nice, and staff seemed nice when we checked in, but the snowstorm left us stranded. They plowed the parking lot once while it was still snowing, then didn’t come back. Staff were rude and said there was nothing they could do. The parking lot was a mess, people couldn’t get their vehicles out, and those who did couldn’t get back in. Steps hadn’t been cleared, and the walkway was slippery. Staff sat in the office on their phones instead of trying to clear the lot. Really disappointing.

The stay itself was pleasant and everything went smoothly until we were leaving. We asked the receptionist if we could leave our bags at the desk for about 20 minutes while we got something to eat nearby, and she kindly agreed. Just as we were heading out, a man came over and spoke to us unpleasantly. The receptionist said he was the manager. He rudely told us we couldn’t leave the luggage there and had to take it with us. The policy wasn’t what upset me, it was the disrespectful, unprofessional way he explained it. A manager should know how to handle a simple situation with courtesy. That last interaction left us feeling mistreated and disappointed after an otherwise good stay.

Check-in was easy, and the staff were very nice. Our room looked beautiful and clean, with comfortable beds and a good TV. There was a slight odor at first, but it went away after we showered, sprayed some deodorant, and left the door open for a few minutes to let fresh air in. The air conditioning worked amazingly.

I booked because this hotel is part of the Wyndham family. The rooms in the second building looked newly renovated, and the basics were all there: a comfortable bed, fluffy pillows, a fridge, and a microwave. The details still matter, though. Both shower safety bars were loose, and one of the two chairs in our room was stained. Those little things shouldn’t be overlooked.
