Budget Host, Hempstead Inn

The rooms had some minor damage, and the continental breakfast wasn’t great. Still, the owner went out of his way to help. He let me park my 26' box truck in the driveway in front of the office, then helped me back in safely by acting as a ground guide. That level of customer service is why I’m giving it five stars.

We were wiped out after a long drive, so we only checked the bed for bugs before settling in. Later we found hair in the tub and a dirty toilet, and the room was overpriced. Once you’ve paid, they won’t refund you. The woman in the office was kind, though, and said we could have changed rooms if we’d spotted the problems that night. Check the room and the area before paying. Good luck!

The desk attendant was polite and helpful, but the room was a big mistake. The furniture was worn out, with a sunken couch and an unstable coffee table. The toilet paper looked left behind by previous guests, the shower was rusty, and paint was peeling above it. My daughter’s room was in similarly bad shape, with no bath towels and rust on the handheld hair dryer’s grill. We also heard gunfire during the night. The outside photos look good, but the interior pictures seem heavily enhanced. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The price doesn’t match what you get.

It was quiet and there was no drug dealing, lol, so that’s good. But the rooms cost too much. I can get a suite with a living room and separate bedroom for $70. You’re pricing this like a three-star hotel, and I’d give it one star at best.
