Palace Inn Wayside

I used to recommend this hotel, but I won't anymore. Family came in from out of town and asked to see a room before renting one. The young guy at the desk that night said that wasn't an option. If the hotel is clean and in good shape, I don't see why they couldn't show a room to people I was recommending in the first place.

I gave it another shot recently because I needed somewhere quick near home. I checked in at 9 p.m. and left at 6 a.m., but the room still had the previous guests' full trash and dirty bathroom towels. The next morning I found roaches in my lunch box and had to throw all the food away. When I told the front desk, they blamed me for bringing food into the room. Back in April, I had walked away because they didn't have a two-bed room, and the staff member actually threw my driver's license back at me. Very rude.

The place smelled disgusting, and the service was horrible. The staff were very rude. I wouldn't recommend it.

The rooms were clean, but that didn't make the stay worth the money. There was construction noise, and landscaping crews started using their blower at 7 a.m. for 30 minutes. Between that and housekeeping coming into rooms every day and being nosy, getting any rest was hard. The location was noisy too, and the disruptions made my anxiety worse. I've never felt like I needed medication just to stay somewhere as much as I did here. Housekeeping will lie about you and get the front desk to accuse you without even checking the cameras. The way they talk to Black guests needs to be addressed. They treat Hispanic people well, but speak to and treat Black people poorly. They make it clear they hate people and don't care that their behavior disrupts guests. Save yourself. This place wasted my money.
