I found a beetle in my room within minutes, and there weren’t any towels in the bathroom. The furniture was worn, stained, and sticky, and I was genuinely afraid to sit on it. The whole building seemed badly neglected, with dirt, grime, and cigarette smell everywhere. I stay in hotels for work all the time, and this is the first place that’s made me consider quitting to avoid having to stay somewhere my job booked. It should be condemned. I’d be surprised if I left without some kind of infection.

The owners and managers listened when I said I didn’t feel safe, and let me cancel without a charge. They were very kind, and I hope the renovation works out for them. But it wasn’t disclosed during booking that the hotel was under renovation. There were workers all over the building, and I was uneasy about how freely they could access it. People were also living outside at one end, and the garden-level rooms added to my safety concerns. The owners and managers offered to show us the room, which they said was non-smoking, but it reeked of smoke. The beds felt like roll-outs and had torn covers, and the garden-level window had several cracks. After we complained about the smoky smell and cracked window, they showed us a room on the second floor. The hallways had plastic up, drywall dust coated everything, and workers were everywhere. They offered the only room available on that floor, but we declined.

We checked in, and the lobby was dirty. I asked for a smoking room, which was fine, but the comforters had burn holes and should’ve been changed. The towels were stained, the soap and shampoo tray had mold, and I was almost afraid to use the towels. I had to figure out the TV myself, the phone didn’t work, and neither the AC nor fridge cooled properly. There was a drunk person passed out in the hallway, and the people next door were smoking pot, which we could smell in our room. I stayed Sept 29 and left the next day. There were no ice buckets, so the guy gave me a coffee cup, but when I went to get ice, the machine wasn’t working. I’ll never stay there again.

I was told when I booked that breakfast was available from 6am-9am according to the website, but the man at the desk said that was wrong. That was disappointing. In our first room, I noticed writing on the mirror, which wasn’t mean, but made me wonder how clean the room could be. Then a roach crawled out of the faucet. The woman at the front desk moved us to another room and upgraded us at no extra cost, which seemed great at first. But the roaches kept coming, and my husband was killing them left and right. We were really disappointed and unsatisfied with the stay. We’ll never come back.
