SpringHill Suites by Marriott Jacksonville North I-95 Area

The room was okay, but the shower had no soap and its nonstick surface was so slippery I nearly fell. I caught myself. The TV setup was another problem: I like connecting my computer to the TV, but the cheap remote wouldn’t let me, and there was no Marriott system. After a long day of travel and meetings, I wanted to use a digital key and go straight to my room. The front desk clerk said they don’t offer that because they want to make sure it’s really you. For me, that compromised customer service from the start. A car was also parked sideways, blocking people from pulling up to the drive-through. This place didn’t meet Marriott standards for business travelers. One and done.

We had a spacious, comfortable room and really enjoyed our stay from January 4th to 5th. Breakfast is worth recommending. The only snag is that the $21 deposit is still pending on my card. I hope it gets released and refunded soon.

The thermostat didn’t work right, so I couldn’t adjust the fan speed. Aside from that, it’s a straightforward 3-star hotel that delivers what it promises. The room was good, and breakfast had a very good variety.

The WiFi was unsecured, which made it unusable for our IT work, and support couldn’t offer a secure alternative. During an emergency work meeting, we had to use a personal mobile hotspot. That was disruptive and far from ideal, so we ended our four-night booking after just one night. While our meeting was still underway, we asked for checkout until 1:00 PM. The desk staff insisted checkout was 12:00 PM with no exceptions. Only when we asked for a manager did we learn that Gold members were automatically eligible to stay until 2:00 PM. That mixed message added stress in the middle of a professional meeting. We’d booked four nights so we could work remotely, but these issues cut the stay short. I hope the hotel addresses both the insecure WiFi and the confusion over member benefits for future business travelers.
