Miner's Motel

The managers were really nice, and the rooms were very clean and quiet, surrounded by beautiful forests. The location was great, and I was super happy with the stay. I did need to get $100 cash from an ATM for the deposit, but that only took a few minutes.

Our room had a mini frog , microwave, coffee maker, and hair dryer, which were nice to have. The front desk was friendly and efficient at check-in. The tub and shower could’ve been cleaned better, and it would’ve been nice if the vending machine worked. I’m not sure whether the pool was open yet. The listing also said Yosemite Valley was 49 miles away, but it’s considerably farther, over 70 miles.

A cute little motel in a good location, with decent rates. The rooms aren’t modern, but they’re cozy and well looked after. There’s a long porch with chairs and ashtrays, which makes sense with all the rooms being non-smoking. It might make sitting outside less pleasant for non-smokers, though the only view is the pool and freeway, so that may not matter much.

The staff were friendly and courteous, and check-in went smoothly. Our room was comfortable, very clean, and had everything we needed. There’s an outdoor pool just a few steps from the building. We booked a couple of months ahead for a one-night stop on our way to Yosemite over the 4th of July, which helped keep the rate down. A few small drawbacks: the free Wi-Fi was slow and spotty, we could hear a lot from the room next door, and there were no towel bars, so the hand towel had to sit on the sink edge. For a budget motel in this price range, it was what we expected. We’d probably stay again if we’re in the area and see if we can get the 5-star experience.
