Fairfield Inn Kansas City Downtown/Union Hill by Marriott

The location worked really well, and parking was great. Everyone on staff was friendly and professional. Some parts of the building still look old while other areas have been refreshed during the renovation. I’d stay again, though I’d like to see it cleaner and more updated.

Housekeeping kept our room spotless and comfortable, and the front desk team was especially kind and helpful. We felt welcome the whole time. We had a wonderful stay at Fairfield Inn and would happily return and recommend it.

I picked this place for the price over a nicer downtown option, and ended up wishing I’d stuck with my first choice. The rooms and lobby show a lot of wear and need a makeover. The layout is unusual, the parking lot is awkward, and the entrance is hard to spot. You get what you pay for.

Carlos remembered me from my last visit and went out of his way to get me a room on the fourth floor, right above the one I’d liked before, with an even better skyline view. He also explained that the free streetcar now runs in front of the hotel and goes to downtown and the Plaza shopping area. It was really convenient, and his recommendations and hospitality made the trip better. Carlos is a great representative for Marriott Bonvoy and Kansas City, and I’ll be back. The renovation was underway, but I never heard any construction. A temporary wall kept the work area separate, and I was in a remodeled part of the fourth floor, so it didn’t disturb my rest. I appreciate Marriott keeping rooms updated while doing the work in a way that wasn’t disruptive.
