Wingate by Wyndham Lake George

The location was great, and the person at the service desk was patient and accommodating when we had trouble checking in. But I wouldn’t stay here again. There was hair from previous guests in the bathtub drain, and the bathroom ceiling was moldy from the shower heat with no air filtration. The beds were so hard and uncomfortable that it was difficult to sleep. The breakfast was all cold and made my family sick.

The room was clean and the beds comfortable, though the pillows were flat. The showers ran slowly, and brown water came from the faucet and shower head. Breakfast was a joke: you could make a waffle, or have toast, bagels, two cold cereal choices, instant oatmeal, or plain yogurt. The coffee machine was broken and the creamer dispenser out of order. Staff were rarely at the front desk because they had other duties, but we could reach them by phone and they were very pleasant.

Other than the strong weed smell and what happened with my key, the stay wasn’t bad. The room was good and clean, except for a cracked spot on the bathroom ceiling. On my last night, my key stopped working. A worker let me and another guy in, then disappeared, and the key still wouldn’t open my room. I called both numbers and stood there saying hello, trying to get someone’s attention, for 30 minutes. My girlfriend finally reached the backup number. The guy sounded like I’d woken him up, then came out of a guest room to help. We shouldn’t have had to call around, and he shouldn’t have disappeared right away.

The room was clean, but the breakfast was awful and limited. I was there at the end of December, and the noisy A/C with thin blankets was a perfect way to stay awake at night.
