Hyatt Regency Lexington

Samantha handled a really complicated billing problem for me with care and patience. The property is great and the location is hard to beat, but the service is what makes this place stand out. If you're staying in or near Lexington, choose this one. They make every guest feel like a VIP.

We asked something at the front desk this morning and Peter Rawlings was incredible. He went well beyond what we expected, and it was such a great start to the day. Customer service can be rare, so we really noticed how thoughtful he was. Please pass along our thanks to Mr. Peter Rawlings. He deserves a raise, or a promotion!

The room was clean, but sleep was another story. Downtown noise carries straight in, from revving cars and loud diesel engines to sirens. The curtains don't close all the way to keep out the outside lights, and on our last stay the broken drapery rod made covering the window even harder. There are obvious flaws in the finish work and upkeep that don't fit a hotel with this star rating. There's no breakfast or coffee, either. The location is convenient, just not if you want a quiet night.

The rooms are pretty standard, with a king bed, bathroom, mini fridge and desk, nothing to make a fuss over either way. I've stayed here for years with my company, and the location near restaurants and UofK works really well. When there's an event, though, the place fills with Wildcats fans. With just three elevators for 16 floors, waits can drag on. On my latest visit one elevator was down during a basketball game, and it took close to 10 minutes to get up or down. The bar area needs a deep clean, too. The microwave area was covered with gnats and litter, and the microwave was dirty inside, so I ate my leftovers cold.
