The room was basic but not bad, just somewhere to crash. I didn’t see any roaches, despite what others have said, though the phone kept ringing randomly during the night. What put me off was the deposit: the one-night rate was around $130, but they also take $300 as a safety deposit in case you smoke or something. With the round trip, this mediocre hotel cost almost $700. There’s no free airport shuttle, even though every other hotel on this strip has one. I wouldn’t have stayed if I’d known about that outrageous deposit.
The 24/7 airport shuttle was much appreciated, and the trip from hotel to airport took under ten minutes. Staff were fine and answered my questions. Local food choices seemed nonexistent apart from a Papa John’s van in the parking lot, and planes can be loud since LAX runs around the clock. I was able to block most of the noise with an extra pillow, so it didn’t bother me. I only needed a place to shower and sleep for a few hours before an early flight. The hotel was about $30 cheaper than the others nearby, which made me a little nervous, but for what I paid it was really nice and exactly what I needed. The carpeted room seemed mostly clean, though it wasn’t the best. The bathroom door wouldn’t lock and the closet door was damaged. It worked perfectly for my overnight layover, but I wouldn’t stay longer than one night.
The key cards barely worked, and I had to go back to the lobby each time to get them reactivated. The staff I dealt with were incredibly rude and dismissive, as if helping was a huge inconvenience. Their treatment felt unprofessional and disrespectful, like guests were a nuisance. The building seemed old and neglected, and basic things like toothbrushes weren’t available. The room was dingy, outdated, and far from clean. The bathroom door didn’t close right and had no lock. I regret every dollar I spent here. There are plenty of other places where the value, cleanliness, and treatment would be much better. Save your money and look elsewhere.
The staff were the highlight. They made me feel welcome at check-in and greeted me nearly every time I passed through the lobby. I got a good deal for my dates, which is why I booked despite the generally negative reviews. The building, especially the rooms, is clearly dated, but my room was clean and reasonably spacious. It was a perfectly fine stay. The location worked for me because my plans were around LAX. Getting downtown took about 1 hour 20 minutes under the current metro alignment. That should improve once the K line begins running through Aviation/Century station, about a 15-minute walk away. Bus route 3 stops outside and takes just under an hour to reach Santa Monica. I think parking is $60 a night. A couple of things need attention: the shower pressure was quite low, even after adjusting the showerhead. I only found out after landing at LAX, from a Sheraton gateway bus driver, that the shuttle had been discontinued effective February 24, 2025. The hotel hadn’t contacted me before my stay. I had to make other transport arrangements, so check whether your booking includes a shuttle. Hotel staff can arrange a taxi transfer if needed.
The staff were awesome, friendly, kind, and accommodating. The rooms were a different story. There were two cockroaches and a water bug in the bathroom, and the rusty shower faucet stained the tub. The whole room stayed muggy because there was no bathroom exhaust fan. The towel hook on the back of the door was rusty and so loose it had spun upside down, and all the bathroom lamps were rusty too. I’ve stayed in nicer Motel 6s. This place needs major repairs. I expect better from Four Points, which is usually a very nice hotel, but this one was pretty gross.
